I. What does your pastor need from his people?
A. _____________________________
For John’s ability to proclaim God’s truth.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:2-4
“Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; …” 2 Thessalonians 3:1
For John’s protection and effective service to you.
“Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the saints; …” Romans 15:30-32
“…and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.” 2 Thessalonians 3:2
For John to know the depth of God’s love for him. Ephesians 3:14-19
For John to gain wisdom, knowledge of God, & spiritual insight Ephesians 1:15-19
B. ____________________________________________
“I rejoice over the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have supplied what was lacking on your part. For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men.” 1 Corinthians 16: 17-18
“But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always think kindly of us, longing to see us just as we also long to see you, for this reason, brethren, in all our distress and affliction we were comforted about you through your faith; “ 1 Thessalonians 3:6-7
C. ______________________________________________
“You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone; for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account. But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.” Philippians 4:15-18
D. __________________________________________
“But you know of his proven worth, that he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child serving his father.” Philippians 2:22
“But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need;” Philippians 2:25
“And he gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service to the building up of the body of Christ;” Ephesians 4:11-12
