This week we will be looking at Romans 15:22-33, where Paul shows us the right way to make plans, especially plans to serve Christ: “Lord willing.” The worship theme is “A God Who Hears Our Prayers,” since Paul asks the Romans to earnestly strive for him in prayer, and the visual theme is “Romans Ships,” because Paul details his extensive travel plans.

Call to Worship:
Great is Thy Faithfulness
Psalm 130:1–7 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! 2O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! 3If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. 5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption.
Psalm 65:2–8 O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come. 3When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions. 4Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple! 5By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; 6the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; 7who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, 8so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

Proverbs 12:20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
Luke 14:28–30 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
