Easter 2023: The Benefits of His Passion

The Passion of Jesus Christ is the central moment in all of human history, and the greatest blessing humankind has ever received. Join us this year as we look at the benefits of His Passion: the awe of his kingship; the solemn truth of his sacrifice on the cross; and the joyous truth of his victorious resurrection. April 2, 2023, Palm Sunday
Title: The Benefits of His Kingship
Text: Revelation 7:9-17
Worship: His Triumphal Entry
Key Sentence: The King is glorified by his care for his people
Outline:
I. The True Palm Sunday (Revelation 7:9-12)
II. The Celebrants (Revelation 7:13-14)
III. The Benefits (Revelation 7:15-17)

Revelation 7:9–17 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

13Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15“Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. 16They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. 17For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

April 6, 2023, Maundy Thursday
Title: The Benefits of His Sacrifice
Text: Romans 5:6-11
Worship: Jesus Paid it All
Key Sentence: All we need we receive in the sacrifice of Christ
Outline:
I. Christ Died for Us (Romans 5:6-8)
II. Justified, Saved, Reconciled (Romans 5:9-10)
III. Therefore we Rejoice (Roman 5:11)

Romans 5:6–11 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Matthew 28:11-15 While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. 12And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers 13and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
