This week we continue our Spring series for 2022, Romans Part 1 – Righteousness From God, Yay!. In Romans 3:9-20 we’ll see that the evidence of Scripture and experience is that all have sinned. The worship theme will be “Hope in Darkness,” and the visual theme will be “lighthouse in the storm,” because despite our sin God offers us hope of rescue.

Call to Worship:
Praise Him Praise Him
Psalm 130:1–8 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! 2O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! 3If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. 5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. 8And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
1 Peter 1:3–5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Scripture for Meditation:
Psalm 14:1–3 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. 2The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. 3They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
Psalm 5:9 For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.
Psalm 140:3 They make their tongue sharp as a serpent’s, and under their lips is the venom of asps.
Psalm 10:7 His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.
Isaiah 59:7–8 Their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their highways. 8The way of peace they do not know, and there is no justice in their paths; they have made their roads crooked; no one who treads on them knows peace.
Psalm 36:1 Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.
