Advent Preaching Series
(Begins Sunday, November 28,2021)
This year we will be looking at six relatively recent contemporary Christian Christmas songs. The series will run from Sunday, November 28, 2021 to Sunday, December 26, 2021 plus Christmas Eve. Each week we will look at the Scriptures and Scriptural themes behind the text of the song. Most of the songs are familiar, and we will sing them as part of our worship. If you would like to help by purchasing a poinsettia for the sanctuary contact Darra Murray. The cost of the Poinsettias will be $5.
Angel Tree Gifts
(Sunday, December 5, 2021)
Our tradition is to sponsor children of parents who are incarcerated through Prison Fellowships Angel Tree Program. This year we have nine children to bless with gifts. The gifts are given to them under the name of their parent. To participate in the ministry come by the Angel Tree table to choose a child’s name to purchase one of the Christmas gifts for. The gifts are due back to the church by Sunday, Dec. 12th.
Family Fajita Fun Fest
(6:00 PM on Sunday, December 12, 2021)
We’re trying something totally different this year for our Family Christmas Celebration. We’re going to have a full fajita meal (beef, chicken and vegetarian), games created by Api Wales, Christmas Carols and fun. Sign up to bring your whole family to this unique, relaxing Christmas celebration.
We really do need you to sign up, because we need a head count when we order the food, several days in advance. Use the sign up sheet at church, or you can call or text Iva at 281-482-0577 and leave a message.
We will be accepting donations for the food at the event, and we encourage you to be generous and help us cover the cost. If you can, bring a plate of cookies to share – we’re not catering the dessert!
(9:00 AM on Sunday, December 19, 2021)
The DeGray family will be serving breakfast to the congregation as their gift to the body during the Sunday School hour beginning at 9:00 am.
(6:00 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2021)
Bring a plate of cookies to share with our neighbors and join us for caroling in the neighborhood. We will meet at the church at 6 pm and go out at 6:30 to carol. We will divide up into groups and go throughout the neighborhoods around the church caroling and handing out plates of cookies to the neighbors. Afterwards we will meet back at the church for snacks and hot beverages.
Christmas Eve Service
(6:00 PM on Thursday, December 24, 2020)
Join us for a quiet hour of carols and contemplation of the “Labor of Love” that was Christmas. “It was not a silent night. There was blood on the ground. You could hear a woman cry in the alleyways that night on the streets of David’s town”
