Heart Prep for Sunday, April 7th, 2019

The text this week is Luke 8:1-15, where Jesus tells the Parable of the Soils. The visual theme will be sowing seeds, and the worship theme will be The Word of God, because “the seed is the Word of God” (Luke 8:11)

Psalm 29:1-2 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 2Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

1 Chronicles 16:34-36 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! 35Say also: “Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. 36Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!”

Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! 9Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory!

Scripture for Meditation

Hosea 10:12Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.

James 1:21 (NIV) Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which is able to save your souls.

John 12:23-25 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Bonus: As we prepare for Easter, I’m working on a few videos from Andrew Peterson’s “Resurrection Letters, Volume 1.” For some reason “His Heart Beats” and other videos from this album will not work on YouTube. Not a flagged copyright violation, just an unexplained “video not available.” So I’ve uploaded the video to my Google Drive, and the link below is the only way to access it.
