Heart Prep for Sunday, September 2nd, 2018

This is the first week in our new Proverbs series. The main verse will be Proverbs 19:21, but there will be several others showing that God is the sovereign creator who watches hearts. The worship theme is “Almighty, Most Holy God,” and the visual theme is storms (from Proverbs 31;4).

This is a communion Sunday, so part of Heart Prep is to focus your thoughts and meditations on the sacrifice of Christ and to examine yourself to confess sin that can spoil the celebration of your rescue.

Scripture for Meditation

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Proverbs 21:30-31 No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord. 31The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.

Proverbs 22:2 The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all.

Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?

Proverbs 21:12 The Righteous One observes the house of the wicked; he throws the wicked down to ruin.

Proverbs 29:26 Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the Lord that a man gets justice.

Hebrews 1:1-3  Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.
