Heart Prep for Sunday, July 29th, 2018

The texts this week show how Jesus mourned over Jerusalem despite its hostility toward him. We’ll be learning how to substitute grief for anger. The worship focuses on Christ’s compassion for us, and the visual theme is “Spring Rain,” how water (representing tears) brings life.

Matthew 5:21-22 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ 22But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

Luke 19:41-44 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side 44and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
