Bob’s Harvey Update #35
November 9, 2017
Executive Summary: Come on Thursday, November 16th at 5:30 pm. to give input to the selection of colors for the Sunday School Building.
The Crisis Response teams have been working hard in our building, and we’re almost ready to paint. The good news is we have the opportunity to select all new colors for the Sunday School building. The bad news is we need to do it quickly. Here’s the plan:
Next Thursday (November 16th) is our Thanksgiving Community Dinner, at 6:30 p.m. If you have ideas or want input into the colors for the Sunday School building, come early, at 5:30 p.m. We will have a walk through, talk about the various color combinations that have been suggested and see where this self-chosen group leans. Todd, Iva and Bob will evaluate the input and make a decision. Lord willing, the building will be painted the following week.
Preparation:
First, pick up some swatches or paint samples, preferably at one of the big box stores, but Sherwin Williams is also acceptable. Think about the building and bring your preferred set of swatches for the group to evaluate. We feel that we should use at most four and preferably two or three colors for the whole building, so that we can stock just a few colors for touch-up or repainting.
So you’ll want to think about the building and two or three (or four) ‘paint zones.’ To refresh your memory, here’s a list of the rooms in the Sunday School building, starting from the entrance near the sanctuary and using the commonly used names:
Long hall and side halls
C. E. workroom / Awana office
Men’s and women’s bathrooms
2’s and 3’s room
Nursery
4’s and 5’s room (cloud room)
Conference room (panel room)
Upstairs classrooms
Life room
Can do room
The other classroom (Murray’s classroom)
Men’s and Women’s Bathrooms
Bob’s office
Iva’s office
Todd’s office
Here’s a (serious) example of what three paint zones might look like:
Color 1 – Long hall and side halls, C. E. workroom / Awana office, Men’s and women’s bathrooms, Bob’s office, Iva’s office, Todd’s office, Conference room
Color 2 – 2’s and 3’s room, Nursery, 4’s and 5’s room (cloud room), Upstairs Classrooms
Color 3 – L.I.F.E. room, Can-do room, other classroom
Here’s a much less serious example of color swatches. Please bring yours to the meeting if you don’t want the building to turn out like this:
Important note: If you don’t want to bring color swatches, you can still come to the walk through, but you can only affirm colors someone already brought or suggest changes to their paint zones, not suggest alternative colors.
