Heart Prep for Sunday, September 17th, 2017

This week we begin our fall series in the minor prophets with Jonah chapter 1, where a God of mercy pursues wrong-way Jonah with a storm and a fish. Our worship theme is the mercy of God, and our visual theme is stormy seas – last time for a while, I promise!

Sovereign Over Us

A paraphrase of Psalm 69:13-17. But as for us, our prayer is to you, O Lord. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer us in your saving faithfulness. 14Deliver us from sinking in the mire; let us be delivered from the deep waters. 15Let not the flood sweep over us, or the deep swallow us up, or the pit close its mouth over us. 16Answer us, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to us. 17Hide not your face from your servants; for we are in distress; make haste to answer us.

Thy Mercy my God

Before the Throne of God Above – Shane & Shane

Psalm 130:1-8 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! 2O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! 3If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. 5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. 8And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
