The text for this week is Matthew 3:13-17, in which Jesus is baptized. Many of the threads of God’s Big Story come together in Jesus’ baptism, including the interaction of all three persons of the Trinity. So our worship theme will be “Blessed Trinity,” and our visual theme will be (mostly abstract) depictions of ‘triune’ things and Trinity symbols.

Wonderful Merciful Savior
Matthew 3:13-17 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Holy Spirit You are Welcome Here
John 14:25-26 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
