Heart Prep for Sunday, October 18th, 2015

The text this week is Isaiah 54:1-8 in which Isaiah uses the shame of infertility to illustrate the truth that the shame of our past does not define us – God’s love and redemption define our future. The worship theme is “Sing, O Barren One,” (after Isaiah 54:1) and will focus on songs of our redemption. The visual theme is “tents in the wilderness” (after Isaiah 54:2).

Prelude:
Be Kind to Yourself – Andrew Peterson

Worship Set:

Psalm 121:1-8 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 3He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

I Will Lift My Eyes

Your Great Name

1 Peter 1:18-21 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

I Will Sing of My Redeemer – Hymn #506

Sound of Melodies

Isaiah 54:4-8 “Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. 5For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. 6For the LORD has called you like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God.7“For a brief moment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. 8In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the LORD, your Redeemer.
