Ezekiel? I’ve been talking about preaching in Ezekiel for quite some time. I’ve hesitated for twenty years, however, because I’ve not been sure I understood what the book was saying, or even after I did, how I might preach it. I know that others have the same hesitation. In fact, someone told me that Ezekiel was their least favorite book. You may feel the same way. If so, I’ll say to you what I said to them, that it’s probably therefore a book you would do well to study.
This fall, we’ll be reading Ezekiel together and I’ll be preaching a selected passage each week. I’ve really liked this approach to Isaiah and the Psalms in recent years, and I think ‘100 Days in Ezekiel’ is a great way to get a feel for this potentially life-changing book. I encourage you to commit to the daily readings (about half a chapter a piece) and let the slow pace and seeming repetition of parts of this book bring truth to your soul.
