Heart Prep for Sunday, June 29th, 2014

I’m excited to be preaching this week. Next week I’ll be going to London with Gail and then on to Slovakia, so I’ won’t get to preach again until August 10th. You’ll have messages from Dan Wales, Murry Billingsley and Todd (after he gets back from Slovakia) in the meantime.

The topic this week is how Jesus is with us, in us, and how we are in him. The lead text is John 14:18-20, where Jesus affirms all three of those truths. The worship focuses on our life in Christ

Scriptures for Meditation:
John 14:18-20 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

John 1:4-5 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 15:4-5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

I Bind Unto Myself Today = Lyrics

I bind unto myself today
The strong Name of the Trinity
By invocation of the same
The Three in One and One in Three

I bind this today to me forever
By power of – Lfaith Christ’s incarnation
His baptism in Jordan river
His death on Cross for my salvation
His bursting from the spicèd tomb
His riding up the heavenly way
His coming at the day of doom
I bind unto myself today

I bind unto myself today
The power of God to hold and lead
His eye to watch His might to stay
His ear to hearken to my need
The wisdom of my God to teach
His hand to guide His shield to ward
The word of God to give me speech
His heavenly host to be my guard

Against the demon snares of sin
The vice that gives temptation force
The natural lusts that war within
The hostile men that mar my course
Or few or many far or nigh
In every place and in all hours
Against their fierce hostility
I bind to me these holy powers

Christ be with me Christ within me
Christ behind me Christ before me
Christ beside me Christ to win me
Christ to comfort and restore me
Christ beneath me Christ above me
Christ in quiet Christ in danger
Christ in hearts of all that love me
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger

I bind unto myself the Name
The strong Name of the Trinity
By invocation of the same
The Three in One and One in Three
By Whom all nature hath creation
Eternal Father Spirit Word
Praise to the Lord of my salvation
Salvation is of Christ the Lord
