It is time for another week of hosting for Family Promise. We will have the families from June 9-15, and we need many volunteers to make it all happen. I’m not sure how well we conveyed what volunteering entailed in writing last time; so, I am going to make an attempt to do that here so that you may feel more comfortable knowing what you are getting yourself into. Everything is really broken down into very manageable pieces so that no one has to do very much. We had many come out last time, but we would love to see some new faces!
Here are the needs we have:
Preparing for Family Promise: We need about 10 volunteers to clean up and prepare rooms on Saturday, June 8, from 9am-11am. We also need 8-10 people on Sunday, June 9, at 2pm to set up the beds that Family Promise will be bringing in. Please email Todd at tclc7 (at) verizon.net if you are able to help with either of these.
Dinner: A main dish, side dish, and dessert every evening for 20 people. These are split up on VolunteerSpot so that no one has to bring a full meal unless they want to. The food will need to be brought up to the church by 5:45 each night.
Set up and Serve Dinner: We need four hosts (four adults – you are welcome to bring your family if you sign up.) to arrive at 5:45 in order to serve the dinner and eat with the families. You would stay until 6:30 or until the evening hosts arrive.
Evening Hosts: We need four (adults – but family is welcome.) to serve as evening hosts from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. You would just hang out with the families, play games, or just be there. Sometimes the families just go to their rooms after dinner. Hosts just go with whatever the families would like to do.
Overnight Hosts: We need a male and female (married couple) OR two females and one male to stay overnight at Trinity. You would arrive at 8:00 p.m. and stay until the families leave in the morning around 6:45am. However don’t let that discourage you from volunteering. If you need to leave before the families do, Bob, Todd, or Iva can probably get there to relieve you as long as it’s pre-arranged.
Saturday and Sunday Breakfast: Iva is taking care of the needs for breakfast during the week. The families do not get a hot breakfast on those days. However, on the weekend we provide something a little more substantial for them. On Saturday the breakfast will need to arrive by 8:30, and on Sunday they will plan to eat at 8:00 a.m. The meals are split here as well so that more than one person can bring food.
Set up and Serve Breakfast: We will need four (adults, but family welcome) to set up and serve the Saturday and Sunday breakfasts as well as eat with the families. You would need at arrive by 8:30 on Saturday and by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
