Merry Christmas!
Our texts for this week include Ruth 4:13-22, 1 Samuel 1:9-28 and 1 Samuel 2:1-10. We will also touch on many of the Old Testament promises of a king from David’s line, and the New Testament witness to their fulfillment in Jesus.
Our worship focuses on Christmas as the provision of a king!

Isaiah 9:1-2, 6-7 But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. 2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. . . 6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Luke 1:30-33 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

Actually I’ve always liked the Mannheim Steamroller version of this one too.
And I know some folks really like the Chris Tomlin version
