Day 4: Faithful
A hero doesn’t change his mind or give up: when he has made a promise, he keeps it. In both the book and the movie Lord of the Rings, Samwise Gamgee makes a promise to serve and care for Frodo, and he does everything he can to keep that promise. In the Bible this kind of faithfulness is exhibited by some people, but most often by God himself, and then by Jesus.
Jeremiah 31:3 says that when the nation of Israel sought for rest, the Lord appeared to them and said “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” What motivates God to faithfulness?
How does Lamentations 3:21-26 reinforce this connection?
