While the group is in Slovakia, I’m going to be blogging their daily devotions. I hope this will allow all of us to be thinking and praying some of the same things they are. Todd has prepared devotions for his half of the trip from Philippians.
Phiiippians 1:1-2.
Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus: To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons. 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Background: Paul is writing from a prison in Rome in 63 A.D., but his letter is all about Joy and Rejoicing, no matter the circumstances.
Questions on verses 1-2: (read Lydia’s story in Acts 16:11-15.) Who does the saving?
Do you consider yourself a “servant” or a “slave” of Jesus Christ?
Who are saints? What does this mean? How do we become saints?
What does it mean to be ‘in’ Jesus Christ? How should being “IN” Christ change our lives?
Where does grace and peace come from? How can we receive it?
Paul wanted to share this with the world. Is it your desire to share Jesus with the world? Do you have joy in your hearts knowing that you are saved, knowing that you are IN Him?
Read Titus 1:5-7, Acts 20:17, Acts 20:28, and Acts 6:1-7. Why should we be praying for our Elders and deacons?
