Leviticus 26:11-12 I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. 12I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.
I wrote up this list of promises in 2010 as part of a Christmas series. It’s interesting that the first promise I chose is also the last promise we studied for Revelation, Revelation 20:3-4 “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
This promise is so central to Scripture that you can structure the whole story of the Bible around it: The Bible Story in One Graphic
And this very central promise is also very comforting: God’s big idea all along has been to be with us, with him as God and us as his!
Here are a few of the things we sang that week:
Face to Face – this is an Indelible Grace song, new to us – take some time to listen. You can find the lyrics on their site igracemusic
On Jordan’s Stormy Banks. Another Indelible Grace version, I think. Anyway, lyrics here
And finally, the Michael Card song which ends his Revelation album, and which, oddly enough, we never did at church: The New Jerusalem
