Our Devotional in Paul’s prayers continues.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (ESV) To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Having declared that the Thessalonian Christians will be considered worthy of the kingdom when Jesus the judge comes (2 Thess. 1:5), Paul’s prayer for them is that they may even now be made worthy of this calling (see 1 Thess. 2:12). The evidence of that will be that God will fulfill every resolve that they have for good – every time they choose good over evil and seek to do good for others, God will supernaturally empower that choice and every time they work (by faith), he will make that work effective and himself carry it on to completion.
The outcome of this is that Jesus will be glorified in and by their lives, that the Thessalonians will also receive glory in him. And all of this will be done by grace.
Why not pray this for your friends on this year’s Slovakia Missions Team!
