Our devotional series in Paul’s prayers continues.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. 3We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Here is another thanksgiving. Notice the ‘always’ and ‘all.’ Later in this letter Paul will say ‘pray without ceasing’ and from what we’ve seen that must have been pretty much what he himself did. It’s a life of connectedness to God characterizes by much conversation with God.
I suspect Paul is both giving thanks for their labor, work and endurance and praying for them to labor, work and have endurance out of the right heart motives: faith, love and hope. Notice that triad again – Paul is convinced that this is the ‘fire triangle’ for the Christian life!
