Lent For Everyone Reading Plan
This is Tuesday of the fifth week of Lent. The reading is Matthew 24, with a focus on verses 45-51. (If you want to listen, scroll to the bottom of that page for the audio links.)
Wright says “Clearly, from Jesus’ comments about the slaves doing their jobs while the master is away, this culture of working only when someone is watching is hardly a modern invention. Jesus is addressing his close followers, warning them of a coming time when they will have to get on with their work, staying faithful to him in his absence. They will have to look after his ‘household’ whether they think he’ll be coming back the next minute or not.”
The question Wright puts to us is whether we are waiting faithfully – caring for the household of God, his body, his people.
A song that calls us to this faithfulness: Find us Faithful
