I know that many folks will be at the church camp-out this Sunday, but for those of us who aren’t, here are some thoughts on Heart Prep:
The text will be 2 Kings 2:1-25, which is the account of Elijah being taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire and a whirlwind. Our focus, however, is going to be more on Elisha, who followed Elisha into the wilderness, saw his wondrous ascension, and the became his successor in prophetic ministry. Our worship will focus on the wonder of what God does and the call to be faithful and wholehearted followers.
Prelude:
Make My Life a Prayer to You
Worship:
Hosanna (Praise is Rising)
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing A version by Second Chapter of Acts, with a long ‘Hallelujah’ in the middle, but the tune and the verses are right.
Fix Your Eyes on Jesus – Twila Paris, Audio only.
Here are the words:
When I look into Your eyes
I see the love that died for me
When I look into Your eyes
I see the hope that I will be a faithful child
Following close behind
Following ever blinded
To the things that should not move me
Chorus
Saying to my soul
fix your eyes on Jesus
Saying to my soul
fix your eyes on Jesus
Fix your eyes on Jesus (*3)
When I look into Your eyes
I feel the grief when I have sinned
When I look into Your eyes
I find delight
When I have been a faithful child
Saying to my soul
fix your eyes on Jesus
Saying to my soul
fix your eyes on Jesus
Fix your eyes on Jesus (*3)
Fix your eyes upon the prize
The highest calling you will find
Following close behind
Following ever blinded
To the things that should not move me
Saying to my soul
fix your eyes on Jesus
Saying to my soul
fix your eyes on Jesus
Fix your eyes on Jesus (*3)
