I regularly look at – and try to use – stunning pictures in preparation for preaching. Rarely have I come across one as evocative as this: (click picture for full size version)
Psalm 8 says “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” This picture evokes God’s majesty. But then it says “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” In my opinion, the church in this picture, mimicking the shape of the mountains, captures that sense of man’s smallness and the honor God has bestowed on us perfectly.
By the way, the image was taken in the Dolomite mountains of Italy. Here’s another perspective:
