Anyone in the Alvin-Friendswood-Pearland area interested in applying for a Habitat for Humanity home is invited to attend the enrollment meeting on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Alvin, 611 W. South Street, Alvin, Texas. Habitat’s home ownership program has certain eligibility requirements which will be explained in detail at the meeting. Applications for Habitat housing may only be obtained by those attending this enrollment meeting. Due to the length of this meeting, you are encouraged to leave your children at home. No nursery or child care facilities will be available. For more information about the meeting, phone 281-648-3633.

We will be having our potluck lunch tomorrow after the 2nd service. Bring a dish to share and join us for this special time of fellowship and a meal together. Everyone is welcome to stay. Missionary Tom Morrow will be speaking about what they are doing in Zambia.

Trinity will complete a month of prayer-with-others by having an evening of Praise and Worship tonight. Due to a partial conflict with an OakCreek baptism that some are planning to attend, we have changed the start time for the Praise and Worship Sunday June 28th from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please plan to come and enjoy worship and praise with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Due to the events of last week, the elders are only now meeting to evaluate the results of the first three Education Summit meetings. Therefore the final meeting, during which we will discuss implementation and organization, has been delayed to Monday, June 29th, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the church.

We have already met three times and discussed a wide range of issues regarding education at Trinity, including Sunday School, Small Groups, men’s and women’s ministries, and youth and young adult ministries. Several creative ideas have been proposed. Now the elders will be prayerfully evaluating these thoughts and affirming a set of them which seems to best meet Trinity’s diverse needs.

Even if you have not attended the previous meetings, we would appreciate your input.

It’s time for some evenings of refreshing as we “Taste and See”. Come learn a new recipe, visit, and feed your spirit. Please join us in the Trinity kitchen for some or all of these Wednesday nights in July.

This event will take place the week of July 13-17 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and is for all youth grades 7-12. The deadline to sign-up, turn your money in, and turn in your paper is this Wednesday. A sign-up sheet and medical release/parent consent form need to be turned in. These forms along with your payment should be turned into Wendy Allen or at the church office.

Pray for the Slovakia team as they complete all of the last minute details in their preparations. Pray for God to prepare the hearts of those they will be ministering to and that He will continue to direct their steps and make their time productive as they work diligently on all the last minute details. Pray for good health and safety for all those preparing to leave on Thursday.

If you forgot to return your bottle of change to the church due to the more urgent needs of the past week, go ahead and bring them into the church office anytime this week and a trip can be made to turn them in. Thanks for your support of this ministry.

Bring your craft projects from 6:30 pm to midnight and enjoy a time of fellowsip as you work on your pending projects. Bring a snack to share and your own drink or water is available. We will meet in the sanctuary. Contact Melissa Mendoza if you have any questions.

This event will be a week from Wednesday and pre-registration is a must. Call 1-800-324-1851 if you would like to take advantage of this prevention screening done by Memorial Hermann here at Trinity. The cost for the screeing is $139 for 4 tests (stroke, vascular disease, heart rythm package). Add $10 more for the osteoporosis screening. Flyers are available in the foyer or church office.
